Development of StormDriver started about 7-8 months ago as “Codename StormDriver” and at that time it was more business oriented and was initially described as a “new way of working where your business is opened up to your colleagues, customers, suppliers”. It was initially to be a business collaboration network where everything, as long as you wanted, was open within your business eco system (colleagues, customers, suppliers, as well as documents, applications, etc.). During the next months we slowly saw that this openness between people and around content was much wider than the scope of the business world, and slowly the concept of a layer above the existing web emerged where we could throw away all existing rules and create something truly open. A layer stretched between people and the content existing on the web. We called it the Open Web Layer.
Today we are in the middle of developing the first public version, which will be by invitation only. We hope that we can be ready mid-september, but there’s a lot of unknown factors. In the meantime we will get up a pre-registration version of StormDriver.com, so people can register to be one of the first to try the system.
